Drawn for the 29th December 2025 Challenge 2000 weekly challenge in which we had to make our own challenge. Here's what I came up with:
Firsts!
It's the last challenge of the year, but we're thinking about firsts. It'll soon be the first day of the new year, and we want you to draw someone who was the first to do something using the palette and resolution of the first home computer with colour graphics (the Compucolor 8001).
Challenge rules:
Canvas Size - Exactly 192 x 160.
Colours - Max. 8 from this palette:
Transparency - Forbidden.
Animation - Forbidden.
And so that's what I've done. This is meant to be astronaut Anna Lee Fisher, the first mother to fly in space. I'm still learning to draw properly so the likeness isn't fantastic (annoyingly I spotted a lot of issues today that I won't have time to fix) but it was drawn from this iconic photo.
Thanks to TooMuchAbstraction for the interesting discussion about retro hardware. I still don't know what the graphical restrictions of this machine were, but I do know I haven't followed them. The palette was nightmare enough! |
Thanks so much, Weerdmeester!
