Thank you, this is really nice, your comment made me smile.
Welcome back! I don't think we've ever interacted but I recognise your pieces ![]()
I can't speak from the perspective of clinical depression but I do know that, when the world gets me down and I don't feel creative, just starting something is the hardest part. I'm pleased you've made it over that hurdle and I hope that making art can bring you joy again soon.
As for the piece, I think it's looking good! The forms are nicely defined and I particularly like what you've done with the hand. The pose of the fingers is ace.
Good luck! I'm sure you can beat the block and I hope we see more soon.
I feel you. Maybe you aren't a prayerful person but know that I am at least thinking well wishes for you and your mental health. (As I try to do for anyone when I see similar posts to this.) For most of 2025 I did very little drawing. When I was focused I was trying to work on a game I've been slowing coding but a lot of the time everything else gets in the way. My wife and I discovered ten years ago that a root called Rhodiola Rosea brewed as a tea can be like a miracle when the darkness starts creeping in. It really does seem to help keep my mind from spiraling completely down.
I like this drawing and I don't think the areas you specified look weird. Without antialiasing things and using a few more colors how much control over the shapes can you realistically get?
