Illustration created for the GB Pixel Art Jam 2025. The piece respects technical constraints of the Game Boy. The theme was "balance", and it made me think of dancers! I really enjoy drawing dynamic silhouettes so I tried to make the figure as readable and as dynamic as I could using only 2 colors! The pose is based on this photo reference by Narratography by APJ. For the clothing, I took inspiration from the dancer class of Fire Emblem Awakening and made changes to make it more readable at the GameBoy resolution.

I love this so much! The way the background feels like textmode art is sort of echoed in the broken lines of the legs, as if they're also divided into a grid. The way that then highlights the upper body and the cloth she's holding is wonderful. I love the sense of movement and grace. Beautiful!
