Made around 3 years ago. Almost all of my pixel art during that time (this one included) was just "game sprites" (even though the game concepts I had for those were extremely vague at most). Playing into this, the set of sprites at the bottom was supposed to be used for a "help screen" of some sort.

I was also aping the fuck out of Luke Verhulst and Dan Malone's artstyles as you can see here (though this ended up leaning heavily towards Luke's style).  In fact the palette for this was originally based on the one for the nodes in The Chaos Engine and it just grew from there.

That middle "plug" was based off the "yum" emoji from the early Gmail emoji set (emojipedia.org/google/gmail/face-savoring-food). At the time it was an inside joke in my friend group but I didn't know where it actually came from until today
