I absolutely love the colors!!!
phenomenician: Thank you so much; that's high praise indeed!
"women in spacesuits by sdb" is, perhaps, my favorite genre of pixel art ![]()
Xarss: Thank you!
I drew a grid and a few of the details I wanted in a square the same width as the helmet and used the spherize tool in Photoshop to create a guide. I think Krita has a better tool for creating guides for odd perspectives (Photoshop might these days, but I'm using CS5). I also looked at a decent number of photos of astronauts and sportspeople in visors.
I was actually surprised there wasn't greater distortion when I started but I just went with it and I guess Photoshop knew best.

Sounds like it'd be quite a nightmarish discovery. Thank you so much for the kind words!
pixelglade: Thanks so much! The palette was originally intended for portraits (albeit not realistic ones) so I was pretty curious to see if I could use it for something else.
That green thing is very familiar, is the explorer about to unlock the sims, irl version?
Jokes aside, I love it! So, so good, I really need to study how you did some of the things
You did a great job with the rendering, it looks like it could be a still from a movie (or game), the vibrant colours and scene choice really does remind me a lot of the warp scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Zephyrine: Thanks so much. Looking through your gallery, it looks like you're quite a fan of purple! I'm aiming to have the palette on Lospec around the end of the month/early June. Just completing a set of portraits with it to use as an example image.
