Thank you so much! You're too kind. Pixeljoint has always been my true pixel art reference during my whole life, as a little kid lurking around and then, years later, when I started being more active. Well, relatively, I'm not really that present online in general, but among many other places, I just love it here.
This piece is just a little personal study thing, nothing too revolutionary, but PJ houses and showcases some of the highest peaks of the medium in my opinion!
Thank you Tino! I had quite some fun making this and I definitely want to experiment more with stand-alone pixel illustration!
This kind of piece is exactly why I picked up trying pixel art, and joining this site, thank you for sharing!
Honestly breathtaking, I saw this on Instagram and I was stunned.
Thank you, you're too kind! I mainly saw this tribute as a studio piece, prompted by the official italian ghibli page call to artist (the movie is rereleased these days!) I indeed approached the piece with a free painting / thumbnail pixel approach and it was lots of fun! The blue on the trees felt like a bit of an eyecatch thing, like the whole piece with browns and greens, then blue hues only for the reflection / shadow parts felt a bit flat, so I kind of went with this "iridescence" point in the bark lower to dark tones, then added a lighter turquoise hue as well to further go with this hue shift!
Thank you so much Trigonomicon!
I have been... well, re-evaluating a few things from my artistic life as lots of stuff happened during these past two years and I kind of feel like going a bit beyond technical / videogame art specifically - especially for personal art. It's not like I don't enjoy mockup or videogame art, it's just like a feel the urge to experiment and do (again) general art and illustration more!
Absolutely incredible. Funny thing is I was recently thinking about how you're one of the few great pixel artists I know of that mainly works with game graphic/mockup -style art, and you choose that that moment to prove that you can do illustrations at least as well as anyone else.
Stunning work. Very painterly and striking. You've captured very well the 90s fantasy feeling but with such a clean, modern pixel art style. The use of blue in the trees is so beautiful and the lighting is perfect. This is destined to be a classic!
Thank you! Quite different from what I usually do, but I had lots of fun! :'>
Stunning.
