commissioned This is a background for a mobile phone game. There are three seperate layers that scroll at different speeds. Some aspects were changed for the finalized version, in my opinion it affected the piece in a negative way so I'm posting the unedited version.

Looks amazing! I really like the way you made the foliage, it is really unique and different from the foliage I usually see, but it works so well here, I really like it!

I also really love the high saturation of the images, it really portrays the whimiscal feel of the forest and makes the world feel so nice and colorful.

An amazing view and an awesome piece!

I never noticed how funky this piece is (those flowers!), nor how pleasantly crisp and readable it is, in spite of the heavy blending. Sometimes the HOF slider brings something fun around :).

Intriguing style!

Seems to lack depth, though. Distance doesn't come across well. Though, forgivable due to the stylization; I want to write it off as inherent to it's style.
The foreground is evident enough - Especially if there were sprites moving around in/on it.

Hey you found it! After talking to the designer it was brought to my attention that they ran out of funds to actually release the game. I didn't expect to see anything on it.

As for the backgrounds vs sprites, yeah they don't stand out well at all. I didn't actually do the sprites nor did I really construct the background to work with the sprites. This was my first attempt at backgrounds for a game in which I didn't create everything and apparently I had much to learn. I highly doubt the sprites or bgs could be changed now but, it's certainly something that I've corrected in myself since then.

Found it here. You've done a really great job with the background, the style is awesome but as you see the sprites blend with bg. Asking you about the game name I was curious if it is possible to make the sprites stand out on this bg.

I think the name of the game was called Stag Knight 2. Either that or Staggy or something of that nature. This was done for the mobile phone version of the game, which, I can't seem to find a link to. All that pops up when I search is a lot of flash versions of it.

looks pretty nice, i must say...i would only suggest lighter, less black outlines and less AAed areas such as the mountain cloud and tree edges at the top.

There is a huge difference between commisioned art and hobby art. All things considered this is top notch and your client should consider themselves lucky to have you illustrating for them. I would let you copy/paste anytime

Thanks. The time constraints mobile phone folks give you don't leave much time for getting stuff done. I would've preferred to not use duplicates myself.

Sweet stuff. The only crit I could give is that the front-most trees are noticibly duplicates.
