For this week's challenge, I'm imitating ilkke's incredibly dark SkeleHarp & DragonPlane style. I chose to do it with half the colours he used, so there is some pragmatic dithering where more subtle changes in shade were needed; one of the few departures from those smooth pieces. I would say the actual lighting on this is more similar to that of the DragonPlane piece. I'm not happy with the coat; it looks rather bland but I only had under an hour left. I also played around with the palette quite a bit and got some interesting results but I need to stay true to the splendid monochromatic style ilkke has used.
Very very cool, there seems to be some random lines around the head that looks as if they where there to keep the anatomy in check, and it just makes it look awsome.
ilkke could really have made this, and i think this proves to a few critics out there that ilkke's work can be pixeled (cause i think there are, or were enough people who didn't believe him)... I think this pixel will (and probably) should win (cause it's so far the only pixel for the challenge ive seen that really matches the pixelers style for 100%)...
Funny how this zoomed instantly to weekly top three, while the original wasn't so lucky. I think my favorite bit is how you emulated the messy bits on the head.
This is the one piece that actually had me fooled until I remembered the challenge. Looking through your gallery, you seem like the man for the job to mimic ilkke's style. It'd have taken extreme determination, patience, and skill to pull this off, and it looks like you got the entry in by the skin of your teeth. Incredible work.
Fooled me too. I wasn't even going to look at the piece as I swore I've seen something similar enough to warrant not having to see it again. XD Great job! You got my vote.
