It's incredible and all that, but for some reason it just lacks depth... Everything looks like it's on the same level. I think that the sword should have as much contrast as the shoulder plate has now, and the shoulder plate as much as the sword. Also, maybe remove the nearly white highlights from the brown cape thingy, as it make them look like they are at the same level as the sword.
Your pixel technic is very impressive, as already said , your AA and dithering are quite perfect.. but I can't really say I like the picture tho.. I think you need to work on your drawing and colors.. design and rendering.. mainly human eyes is affected by contrast (more than colors) and if you transform your picture in greyscale, you will see that the most contrasted part of your picture is the shoulder pad then the sword.. then the bandage on his rightarm.. I think it should be on the head... if you really want to make it on the armor and the sword.. I think the design need more work than this to make them interesting to look at.. for me everything looks like it's melting , the shapes seems pretty random and lack structure. I'm sure if you work more on this , your work will really be killer! keep it up!!
It's not blurry, it's "pillow shaded". If you don't know what that means, it means that every surface and every material are shaded the same, with light from the front and same highlights etc. For instance, on this picture, the metal shoulder armor and the hood are shaded the same with same glossy white highlights even if they are different materials, and cloth can never shine like metal. It's called pillow shading cause everything looks very soft. Some very old games look like that.
