I created this and its cousin, the sour grove, for a 72hr gamedev competition. Unfortunatly the game was never completed.

user
Skilo (Level 1 Rookie) @ 1/1/2007 10:46
It looks like a background of a Snes game.
I really like this one.

the grounds simple shading makes this cool

user
=^D Guy (Level 3 Enforcer) @ 11/8/2006 18:14

Oh my, the sky's dithering is groovy. Fav'd.

Also, too bad you never finished the game. A game with graphics that good cannot be done in 72 hours, which is the time maximum for devlopment fo the contest.

i like it. it reminded me the begining of future crews demo called second reality

user
tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 6/26/2006 08:53

nice, but lacks a bit of detail on some points - especially that moon is a bit too rough for my taste plus it seems that the rock in the background (right) is more detailed than the one closer to the viewer, checkerboards would help here =)

but hey, this and the sour groove in 72hours is pretty impressive (assuming that you've had to sleep too.. for an hour or two)

user
Rock3go (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 6/16/2006 17:45

cacafire (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/14/2005 10:24

I think the moon could have been done a little better. Actually, much better. But, hey, who am I to judge? I'm not good at pixel are myself. Just a newbie... T_T

Moru (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/6/2005 09:46

user
ice9 (Level 1 Gangster) @ 11/4/2005 09:56
It reminds me the background picture in the opening of SecondReality demo by FutureCrew, and this is a BIG compliment ;)

user
aurelis_complex (Level 1 Hired Gun) @ 11/3/2005 08:50
its so beautiful and makes me wish it were a real place so i could go and lay beneath the stars and that goregous moon to just dream. lovely! bravo!

user
GTar (Level 1 Gangster) @ 10/3/2005 05:46
Love that moon and the mountain under it, just think that perhaps the foreground need a little more work. Still could be cool for an rpg FF style battle backdrop.

user
ohcan2 (Level 1 Rookie) @ 9/19/2005 15:46
Dark picture... Its beautiful, creates ambience

user
cryofecstasy (Level 1 Rookie) @ 8/22/2005 14:27
How amazing.

user
perfectless (Level 1 Intern) @ 8/1/2005 04:27
It looks all right, but the colors are all so dark, exept of the moon, so I think it's a bit drab. Apart from that it's a really good work.

user
HawkTheSlayer (Level 4 Button Man) @ 7/19/2005 10:52

It reminds me of a backdrop for an old Amiga demo (oh sweat memories, I can hear the mod tunes playing in my head!!) and that isn't a bad thing as for me, that is where pixelling really came into it's own, up until then the 8bit systems had been quite limited!

And like those fine pixel efforts of yesteryear, this proves that a sound use of dithering and bold shading, can combine to produce startling results, well done!!

Faving it for sure!!

user
Lawrence (Level 10 Operative) @ 7/3/2005 12:01
I like the blueish hue in the surface of the landscape, it adds to the coldness. Those stars look really artistic, like someone's splattered white paint onto the skyline, and the moon is the like the icing on the lovely cake.

user
icyii (Level 1 Rookie) @ 6/20/2005 08:30
beautiful! love the sky. and the beautiful stars. <3

awesome!

user
Fatboy72 (Level 1 Thug) @ 6/15/2005 23:52

So many masterworks.  I wonder if you make backgrounds for GameBoy?

user
Tattoo @ 4/25/2005 18:02

Beautiful vista

user
Morganne (Level 6 Tsathoggua (The Horror in the Museum)) @ 3/2/2005 08:18
Nope, I use an extremely outdated PSP for all of my pixel art... mostly because I like how it scroll-button zooms.

user
initial_reality (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/2/2005 08:11
I like the moon, it's superb! I'd rather do the background with the grad tool but it's 5 anyway. (was it made in mspaint question)

user
Susan (Level 1 Rookie) @ 2/23/2005 00:20
Pretty scene wink

user
Donomight (Level 1 Rookie) @ 2/14/2005 09:40
