I can see into the -future- (of pixeljoint weekly challenges)
I was on your page by accident, and saw I rated this piece but I could not remember it. Than I saw that you got third place and was like huh wtf?
But it was for another challenge than the current xD
Coincidence!
And thank you for answering, I see exactly what you mean! I usually have a really basic outline in my head of what I want to do, but my problem is that I start adding and removing really much on the way, so it turns out I always have to use much more time than I originally intended.
But yes, in a way you could explain the pixels by saying that there's some kind of mechanism that's raising the chin up :) (i.e an iron pole / some rocky pillar).
honestly, probably just my bad. I could definitely go into the intricacies of the robostone design that explains the "error" in my pixel but I'll leave it as the fact that this was my first time doing any "real" animation, and I was getting sick of it at the end and wanting to do other thing with my sunday. You can tell particularly how the movement gets much simpler at the end, less things going on, etc. I also ran into snags considering I didn't plan out how it would transform at all, I was just "oh! that would be cool to move"
My main goal with this piece was to create a more dynamic animation with multiple complex shifts going on at once. The only part that really serves my intentions is the initial face/nose/eyes movement. I find it incredible how multiple movements in an animation can instantly transform a lame piece into an awesome one, and I wanted to try to incorporate that. read: always plan what you're doing before you go and do it, the best artists work for their trade.
and my tirade is over, thanks for commenting!
Great! Only crit is that the (our) right side of the statue "gains" width when the chin rolls up on it. Or is it intentional?
Ha, very creative idea DJD.
A bit too simple though, with the shading but a very nice idea. :)
Really funny
