Needed me a new avatar as I've been using the same one for years now and am sick of it.  This here be a fairly quick pixel of the Transformers G1 character Carnivac whose name I use elsewhere.  He's an ex-Decepticon (Marvel UK comic plotline) hence why I gave him a scratched Decepticon insignia.  Also tried to get a sorta Geoff Senior (Transformers UK comic artist that inspired me to draw when I was a kid) look to the face and use of black.  At some point I might pixel the concept sketches I've done of this character using a more TF movie-like asthetics too.  But for now I have new avatar...

Heh.  Thanks for that.  "internet history", maybe.  I have gotten so used to this avatar that I'm not sure I could ever come up with a new one I'd be happy with.  Perhaps I'll have it til the day I die.   Welcome to Pixel Joint by the way.  Those barbarians of yours are also bad-ass. :)

blaster (Level 3 Hatchikyu) @ 3/5/2014 06:07

I was pretty floored that the first comment I received on pixeljoint came alongside this avatar which I recognised straight away. Keep using it--it's part of internet history! Great use of colour, bad-ass subject, and the black really evokes the comic book feeling.

Admire yer stuff!

Killsick (Level 1 Private) @ 10/12/2012 02:53

Wonderful colours, and such amazing detail! Everything just flows together really well in this piece, nice work!

clefairykid (Level 9 Federal Agent) @ 9/22/2012 19:25

I really love the colours in this, and I can also relate to the inconveniance of avatar sizes varying from site to site xP

Papermoon (Level 4 Button Man) @ 11/28/2011 12:57

that's so cool, impressive color palette... *-*

ThomasJH (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 5/3/2011 14:32

sweet, at first i thought that was like that power rangers robot lol

Carnivac (Level 8 Behemoth) @ 1/6/2011 09:48

Heh, it's bad enough that I had to crop this one for use on Deviantart cos they only allow 50x50 instead of 64x64.  I'm not sure I will do a new one.  I don't pixel all that much at all these days and I'm still fairly fond of this one (and it is of the character who's name I use anyways).  Cheers again for the nice comments.

Mathias (Level 6 Garbage) @ 1/6/2011 09:04

Just don't design yer new one at 100x100, then have to create a smaller version, when you're unable to set it as your avatar. Whoops.

Carnivac (Level 8 Behemoth) @ 1/6/2011 02:28

Thanks.  Hm, Now you've brought me to this page again and I see it's from 2007 I start to wonder if I've had it too long.  I use it nearly every site I'm on or have been on since.

Mathias (Level 6 Garbage) @ 1/5/2011 20:40

This is still one my favorite avatars on the site. Such pixel prowess. mm

gennoveus (Level 6 SWAT) @ 6/8/2010 17:28

Anything that is old-school transformers gets the thumbs up from me.

RPG_Boy (Level 5 Captain) @ 2/26/2010 22:20

Bacteriophage (Level 5 Sniper) @ 2/17/2008 17:16
Hmm. Thought it was Blitzwing for a second. Whatever, five out of five.

Andy Tran (Level 1 Rookie) @ 11/5/2007 21:39
I don't know what to say, it looks so good. Inspiring too.

Packrat (Level 7 General Manager) @ 10/8/2007 01:27
Whoa, lovely lesson for me about how much more details one could add in their avatar.

cure (Level 11 Pixellite) @ 10/6/2007 13:29
Bump your old one.  This kicks ass.

leel (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 10/5/2007 04:57
That's really nice, though I'll miss your old one :]

Carnivac (Level 8 Behemoth) @ 10/3/2007 16:09

Dunno about the eyes glowing.  He's one of those who has a visor rather than visible eyes.  I did actually think about animation and did a simple lil thing with the sky but after viewing it looping for a while it just seemed odd that he'd stand there like that for such a long time, whereas static it looks more like a 'photo' captured in a moment.   Dunno if that makes any sense at all.

InnerRayg (Level 1 Rookie) @ 10/3/2007 16:03
Personally I like it a lot, it brings me back to my days of Transformers. The only thing I would have done was perhaps put a bit more emphasis on the know, the cliche'd glowing thing or something. Or perhaps a small animation of the sun reflecting off of the gun or something. Just ideas I wanted to bounce off you, not meant as critique :P

DJD (Level 4 Button Man) @ 10/2/2007 19:17
Gah I'm going to marry you. Great stuff once again, I have to learn your wicked style.

skeddles (Level 11 Sphinx) @ 10/2/2007 17:51
Why is everyone so into transformers all of a sudden?

Doomcreator0 (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 10/2/2007 17:49
