If only it was an actual pokémon, it's awesome :)

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/29/2009 10:41

i appreciate the compliment, but no, you can't show it on youtube. this is my intellectual property and i don't want anyone showing it around with a bunch of other "collected" images, even if given credit.

also notice that youtube's video quality is a terrible choice for displaying indexed and pixel precise quality images like sprites.

xyoskeleton (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/21/2009 21:45

Can i show your sprite on youtube? very great work i'll give you full credit for this piece...

you don't need to turn it into rainbow carebear either. just pick the exact color between them, in this case, blue.

glad to be helpful. keep working on those pixels of yours my friend

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/20/2007 12:50
oh, i didn't think about that D:

but the thing is, it's not meant to be all rainbowy and go through different hues. i was aiming for smoothness, not variety of colour.
i will keep that in mind for any future animation :)

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) @ 12/20/2007 09:36
that's not true my friend. you can still do it by hand, and a little knowledge about colors. check this, and tell me: what is the color that resides between purple and shinny green?

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/19/2007 12:52
i know, but the "right colour as you said, would be obtained by merging the layers at the set transparency of the animation and turning the fade effect of one layer over another into 5 different frames of one single layer, yet with the exact same colours.
so basically, the animation wouldn't be any different.

i'm fine with having the two versions side by side, the animation wasn't part of the sprites in itself, it was just "eye candy" of no real importance.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) @ 12/19/2007 08:16
as everyone already told you, you can still make that animation by hand. all you need to do is find the rigth color between these two, and put them all together. it is easier than it appears to be.

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/19/2007 08:01

it is PNG and transparent. as far as i know, only IE6 isn't compatible with this transparency. it's also considered as the less secure browser ever, so if you're still using it, i suggest you to change.

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/19/2007 08:01
of course, but i have to respect the rules. the animation wasn't "hand made".

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/19/2007 07:59
the high authorities say it's not allowed since it's not hand made.
i didn't intend it to be part of the sprite itself, but the animation was indeed "cheating" on pixel art :/

Solid Pixel (Level 1 Intern) @ 12/19/2007 03:49

Looks good with or without the trippy animation.

You might wanna get rid of the background though.

Emerald (Level 2 Corporal) @ 12/18/2007 21:16
Awww Where'd the awesome animation go? :(

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) @ 12/18/2007 21:13
much better, but less trippy D:

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/13/2007 09:33
i just played with opacity and frames.

glad you liked the character :)

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/13/2007 09:32
exactly what i did, animated it in photoshop CS3, so i could play with opacity and frames together to make this.

i don't even know programs that make this rainbowy animations automatically o.0

castiboy (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 12/13/2007 09:30
i thought it would give it some life ;)

marilii (Level 3 Corporate Drone) @ 12/12/2007 04:36

I believe it could have been done by hand - he would have only needed to pixel one image and then recolour it four times which isn't *too* much for such a small piece. But then again, you can never be sure :P

I really like the character, though :D

Emerald (Level 2 Corporal) @ 12/11/2007 08:48
Look at each frame.

He just lowered the saturation and then switched from purple-gray to green-gray.

Easy to do by hand.

Monkey 'o Doom (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 12/9/2007 08:21

Is the animation filter-produced, or was this whole thing made by hand? It looks a bit suspicious.

Elwin (Level 5 Sniper) @ 12/8/2007 23:43
Nice casti ^^ I like the color change.

Emerald (Level 2 Corporal) @ 12/8/2007 21:38
This looks awesome, I love it!

greenraven (Level 2 Hired Gun) @ 12/8/2007 14:47
I like the color change. Nicely done.
