In this mockup Momotaro enters a jungle type area after hearing cries for help. So he heads out to investigate. [..bunch of crap goes down..] Then he faces a boss and after defeating the boss Monkey joins his party. This mockup obviously takes place before he has any animals with him so yeah.

I have to agree with talamaur, it does remind me of Patapon. Great piece of pixel art and I really love the amount of detail and style.

I love the design and agree with jal that this is the coolest, but I can't look at it often just because of the tough readability. I'm sure there won't be as much going on at once in-game and animations always set things apart and you probably wanted to fit as much of the forrest area stuff in it as possible without having to make multiple mockups. Either way it looks wonderful!

yeah I focused more on the BG this time but even then I still made a lot of mistakes :/
Oh and I wont be making mockups for a while seeing as how I finally have a team member who will help program this I need to focus on the sprites. I'll try and keep you guys updated.
