Thank you for your kindness. I really like a lot of what you're doing with your work as well.
One thing this piece helped me understand is the effect tall pixels can have on the light of a piece. Specifically, on speculars. I think that's what makes good tall pixel pieces so 'shiny' (insert better adjective here).
I wish I'd known that for my first PJ submission, which happened to be a tall pixel challenge. Not that I'd have been able to pull through it though!
So I'll take the opportunity for a big thank you for the amazing pixel passion and craft you convey through all of your pieces and posts.
What I like most about this, is how long it took me to notice that you used "tall" pixels. It shows that you didn't just go into paint and click stretch, but put lots of thought into it. Really, really good job.
(I never read the description ;P)
Wow. Absolutely breathtaking. I like how the character's skin is a bit grayish, as if he were a zombie.
The character appears to be in a very sour mood. It's easy to believe he's plotting revenge. He's obviously very preoccupied with something he's pondering - two biggest clues are the dumped stein which he doesn't even bother to set back upright due to heavy distraction and, even moreso, his hands, their position and the way they're gnarled together is very unusual, the type of maneurism only common for a person who's mind is elsewhere and may not even realize he's doing it, and/or he's currently popping his fingers' joints, which also indicates a pensive moment.
Additionally, I can appreciate the conceptual effort here - the moody environment matches the human emotions that govern the piece. Revenge is an ugly negative malicious emotion so it's almost as if the dark and dank environment represents the charcters mind.
REALLY good, Helm.
great to see it finished. loved it from the first minute, though the background is still totally sucked out by window's/pj's bright enviroment.. even in fullscreen you have to take a very close look to the notice that onion-rope for example
beside the common awesomeness in terms of anatomy: awesome job on the trowsers, probably THE reference for future trowser-pieces. still i've got a final nitpick concerning the weapons - i feel that the smaller knifes stand out a bit too much - at least the backmost two should have some shadow over it
You and your dang greens and greys...
composition wise: love the mullet and anachronistic pants, not sure if I like the swords... its wonderful.
Awesome!
