I think concatenation is worthwhile after more than 2 variations. When I put some clothes on me I'll probably replace "Meh" with array of variations or perhaps animated GIF.
You know, I don't see why you don't just put this one and the one without glasses on the same file (or any other variations of the little guy on the same file). The difference between them is literally just a few pixels, so I don't think it justifies having them both in.
