Oh yeah. I've been tinkering with flash during the winter holiday season, and this time I'm actually gonna make the game... I hope :)
This is actually an edited screenshot from the (very) early version of the game, so there may be a few colors too much (there's transparency and shadows, but I tried to correct that by hand) :P

The point of the game should be 'taking weapons from the boss and using it on the next wave of enemies and another boss, GOTO 10' :)

Here's the link to a semi-functional demo (more like a tech demo, really, no enemies and a rather dull background scheme):

A slight update of the demo engine, click for focus, left/right move, z for rockets and  x for teh laz0r :)
Expect more updates soon :)
Happy new year ;)

Mrmo Tarius,
I thought this game may interest you...
It's not as groovy as yours, but it's still fun.

Really nice gfx!
The demo has very irritating sound, but I liked the way you can tell when the boss is about to fire his laser just by listening. Good luck with the rest of the game, can't wait to see it finished.

Well, thanks for playing the demo, and for all those suggestions :)

Based on (quite) a few opinions, I think I'll expand the playing area, but not by much- it all started with the picture that is currently my avatar here, and I thought it should be as small as possible :)
The new update is online, featuring a different hit effect (for now, all weapons use the same one, until I draw some more, heh), a reworked laser (doing less damage per hit, but still insanely powerful) and a boss-type-enemy-thing (that just floats around for now, expect a wicked charge-laser attack soon)  :)

I was also thinking of making a story, complete with written dialogue and weird characters, but that will take some time :)

Anyways, I'm mighty glad the demo works as I intended- I think it works properly, I know of only one possible bug for now :)

The working demo v0.1a is brilliant. It's already one of my favourite games. I think you have a sure fire hit on your hands.

I know the game is still an early demo and I bet you have lots of additions and changes planned but here are some suggestions anyway...

The play area feels too narrow and it would be good to have a bit more space to see those lovely semi transparent clouds drifting across. Maybe make the play area 108 x 144 pixels (or even 144 x 144 pixels) instead of 72 x 144 pixels and enlarge it to just 300% instead of 400%.

Have more game levels like Desert / Ocean / Jungle / Arctic / City with a boss at the end of each. The final level could be in space with an alien mother ship as the toughest end boss.

Make the space bar shooting weapon infinite but have a limited supply of the other weapons so they need to be replenished with pickups. That would also be better than having money for pickups.

The electro/plasma ball weapon could work better. Maybe when it passes near an enemy it shoots out lightning to hit them.

Call the game PLANET ROCK and rework the classic 80's electro track Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa / Kraftwerk in a minimalist synth style for the soundtrack...

Can't wait to see the next update.

Heh heh, thank you, just posted another update of the demo engine... the new weapon is binded to the 'c' key :)

This is sweet!!!!!!!!!!!

great looking so far :D also the laz0r rox! :] as for the crits, for me the game would be better with a bit wider screen, but i don't know if I can actually judge it now, when there's no real gameplay yet :]

Thank you very much, I really enjoy making that game :)
Currently cracking my head on collision detection, but I believe that is not going to be as hard as I thought :)

I checked out the demo and can see this is gonna be great. 400% pixel size... now that's the kind of resolution I really like. And the way the rockets continue to travel in the direction the ship was moving when they launched is a stroke of genius.
