This guy i did based on this incredible drawing i found: http://www.arieldiaz.com/uploaded_images/old_man_drawing-717480.jpg i traced the main lines to start, and then went from there trying to make it work as pixel art.... i think it could still use some refinement, but any comments welcome.
Pff.. Good job man . I completely disagree too with the other comment . I mean, sure , you looked at a drawing, but the drawing is like a picture. You could have done the same with you're grandpa as a model.
I completely disagree with some of the early comments about not needing skills to create this. You have "mad skillz." I love the animation, and created something completely new with the gesture you captured. Super-cool.
I feel this is pretty good, but did not deserve second place as it was traced. It seems like the real skillfull part was done by the guy who initially drew it, and you simply translated it into pixels. What I'm saying is, I wouldn't give a pulitzer prize to the guy who translated Shakespear, no matter how skillfully.

you've really made this piece your own which is great, and brought a texture not found in the other pieces. it's also a step above your other work. In other words, a thing to be proud of :).

i understand you might be angry because i interpreted the restrictions differently than you, but that is because your assertion that i have rules at all is incorrect. This piece simply is what it is, and I am proud of what i made - you are free to not like it for any criteria you choose, but to call for it to be disqualified for a reason not stated anywhere, i think is unfair.
well to start off the piece, yes i did trace the lines.
i often see work on this site that is based on photography or other work... if someone in charge thinks it should be disqualified because of that, then so be it, but as for you - you don't have to vote for it, as i am not trying to pass it off as anything that it is not - my reference is clearly stated and anyone can judge for themselves what was put into this piece based on the original work.
