Well, here's a pixel i recently made of the planet Saturn (and one of its moons) for a stage background in the shoot-em-up I am drawing graphics for.  The rings didn't really turn out as smooth as I would have liked, but I'm calling it done anyway.

BTW, if you're wondering why the planet (and the moon) are shaped like an ellipse rather than a circle, it's because the system we are making this shoot-em-up game for stretches the image by about 25% horizontally when it displays it on a TV (or on an emulator with fullscreen stretch enabled).

All this stuff is meant to be in a TurboGrafx-16 game, so yea, it's required to use 9-bit color.  Saturn is squeezed looking because it will be stretched back out to a circle when displayed on a TV or emulator.

Cool! I love that rings!

That shading is really cool. The upper edge of Saturn's ring looks a little untextured though.

Did this game ever get finished?

wow the shading is so awesome, and the background yeah...

Great job! I'm just not a big fan of the background...

Added a little more AA work to the rings.  Helped a little bit, I think.

He said in the description why it isn't round, Slemsvamp.

I like the simplicity of the rings, the colors and the moon.

Looks like an oil painting.

The planet isn't completely round and some more work could be done on the rings. Other than that this is quite realistic. Well done!

Planet and moon look good, but I'm not a big fan of the background, seems a little flat. Maybe the stars are a little too homogeneously placed or something.

looking good dude! - good to have you back ;3

Yes, the rings colud be more detailed. But still very realistic piece and i like it. Moon look good and background is perfect.

I think you could've dithered the rings too, and the moon seems a bit out of place.
Nice background, though :)
