Hm... I'll have to retry it from scratch later on then.
The look I'm trying to go for is more of a... "super-soaker flamethrower" look, like a small stream of fuel combusting, instead of a huge searing cloud of death. I'll keep your tips in mind, though, thank you very much for your input. :>
My only complaint is how the flame ends. It would not "dissolve" into air (for lack of a better term) into 2 circles as you have it now. The entire stream would "dissolve" upwards, fading away from its original shape. Kinda like the circle on the right, how it fades up and away. The circle on the left doesn't work at all.
But other than that, I see nothing else wrong. Very nice flame. :D
Frist of all, let it loop longer so we can actually see it go; you have a start, loop and finish animation built into this one animation, let the loop last longer. Is this for a game, or part of a larger image, etc?
The Start - It's very sudden. I'd like to see more a poofing traveling fire ball elongating out of the flamethrower's nozzle, add a few frames.
The Loop - It's not directional, it just looks like a suspended bar of fire, not like hot burning flames being launched from one source. Have you searched for footage/pics of flamewthrowers in action yet? Instead of the noisy grain texturing in the white-hot center, why not some subtle flowing magma-ish texture, almost like flowing fur but not quite. Wavy forward moving flamey texturing.
The Finish - It's sort of odd. Doesn't dissipate naturally. I don't think it needs to cyle to black before it dissaapears. Might look better on a black bg.
I actually think this looks really cool! Keep it up!
