Rock Insect (Silex Coleoptera)
Males can live anywhere, though usually found in the sea. The males are often adorned with moss, algae and even small sea creatures. They are a dull colour and look like normal pebbles. They have wings but are unable to do more than flutter pathetically.
Females resemble attractive, roughly hewn precious and semiprecious stones, the bright colours of which are used to attract a mate as the females' legs soon become useless under the immense girth of their abdomen. The females have become increasingly rare since humans began to like shiny, pretty things to give to their mates. They are flightless.
The eggs generally resemble jewels, though rarely a male can have a duller shell. |
i love the female one, the male looks weird.
