This is mindblowing, it's safe to say that I'm jealous. How long did it take for you to make this (approximately)?
^^ u wanna start a collab? sure !! :D nice idea ! u can add stuff whereever u want ... but lets stick to the restrictions k?
Hahaha, this is so cool! Don't you sit under 'em trees...
I support the idea of a collaboration, let's get started! Should we add stuff to the right or to the left? ;-D
It's called "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak - here's a review on the book taken from a site called Children's Classic Picture Books:
"The plot of the book is based on the fantasy (and real) consequences of a little boy's mischief. One night Max dresses up in his wolf suit and does all kinds of things he shouldn't, like chasing the dog with a fork. His mother scolds him and calls him a "WILD THING!" Max is so mad he shouts back, "I'LL EAT YOU UP!" As a result, his mother sends him to his bedroom without any supper.
Max's imagination transforms his bedroom into an extraordinary setting, with a forest and an ocean and a little boat that Max sails in until he comes to a land full of "wild things." Although they look and sound very fierce, Max is able to tame them with a single glance. They all realize Max is "..the most wild thing of all" and make him their king. Max and the wild things have a fine time creating a rumpus until Max begins to want to be "…where someone loved him best of all." Max's fantasy ends when he smells his dinner. Despite the wild things' protests, Max sails back to his own room where he finds his supper waiting for him."
Really cool little story :)
lol... ^^ actually i dont even know the story ;D a friend pointed me to this picture and i thought it could be nice to pixels, do u know what the english name of the book is?
I love this story - actually (unsuccessfully) tried to get a collab started on the theme - glad someone else thought they're cool too :)
Now, make a whole childrensbook with hiRes restrictions :)
I was tricked by the preview icon. . . "that's CGA, what C64 HiRes?" I thought.
anyway, nice to see some fresh C64 pixels. it's quite neatly done, sure, and I like this another take on the triangle style, but. . . I'm kind of put off by the background stylization -- it seems as some solid material set against the figures (what the shadows suggest) and it kind of closes the space around the characters. in the original artwork there's blank space (soft clouds) that gives you that nice "breath of fresh air". you could also use more blacks here and there to sculpt the forms better.
it's admirable anyway, so big up from me, mate!
This is great! The style is very cool, a very nice take on one of the best children's books ever! (I'm pretty sure it's not german though. It was written and illustrated by an American author, probably translated tho). Well done!
Yay-yuuuuhhh!! That was a fantastic storybook! This is too cool, I really like the use of the shapes here. Can't wait to see the movie when it comes out in October.
really? just 14 favorites? What's wrong with you, pixeljoint fans!
