This is far from finished, and far from what I had in mind.

Well, deadlines are deadlines.

Maybe I'll give it the few more hours days it deserves, when the challenge is over. Maybe.

Disclaimer: the title is 100 % pure joke. I do not give the tiniest amount of credit to the Moon 'conspiracy theories', and nothing more to any 'conspiracy theory'.

Edit: preview update , thanks a lot Skamocore for the advice and magic! ;-)

Uploaded the WIP.

Well, more than that.. .There's no Moon actually, no stars, no planets, just little holes with lights behind.

user
Semmu (Level 1 Private) @ 8/11/2009 13:23

Your concept is definitely readable, and a few hours before I read your last comment, I was thinking the narrative continuity between the preview and your piece was huge !

I voted for you, I hope you'll have the third place, you really deserve it !

Tpoe: just what I was afraid of... ;-)

The preview is the clue: it shows 'before', or 'from the outside'. I won't spoil it further for now!

Thanks guys for the comments and favs!

Yeah I know, there's a lot more work here. A lot of details are still rough, the shadows should be worked on more, possibly with dithering, they should certainly flicker around the lamps. Some AA might be useful.

Mostly, the robot (the real one, up there on the left) is not good, this is where my concept too is unfinished. It takes someone to have built and to operate this place (a kind of reverse Dyson sphere!), but I'm totally undecided: gods, aliens, angels, robots, men... And, should I show them or not? So it ended up as a late crappy robot, supposed to look like Robby (but doesn't). It was also useful to help point to the crank that is supposed to drive the gears, but I'm sure no-one can see the crank anyway.

So yes, Manjaman, this is the LEM! Hey, I forget I'm on the old side of you people here! I think it must have hovered a bit like this over the actual moon surface, as Neil was desperately trying to dodge boulders through clouds of dust. Here they're just too amazed to do anything...

I was mostly afraid the concept would not be understandable, whence the anim (so the lamps would be obvious, and then the little holes), and the preview too. I'm glad it seems to work for you guys. Please comment on this mostly!

Could someone explain this to me? I'm don't think I get it.

My bad, I didn't know the module had this shape.

So the concept is better than I thought, congrats !

A robot? I thought it was the ship. Well, I wonder if it can lift in middle air like an helicopter, but the form resemble the ship more than a robot. Anyway, a very good piece. One of my picks.

onek's right.

This is really amazing and very original ! But I see no point in introducing a robot there... What does this robot bring to your concept ?

onek (Level 6 Hitman) @ 8/3/2009 07:02

nice^^ , guess this is my favorite for now... maybe it would be nice if the reflections of the candles would also move a little, and theres something strange about that candle next to the weight...        >click<

Great pixeling and great use of the colours - except you have an extra colour on the robot's back which isn't in the palette. I've still allowed in into the challenge as it is still close.

Also, I would advise you to change your preview image as it is too big to show on the front page. For images to show on the front page then need to be <10kb.
