To cure a creative block I decided to help DeProgrammer with his SHMUP game project called Rendezvous Delano for the DS.

This is just a mockup of the items I've made so far. The Boss spins 90 degrees and shoots the tiny ships then rotates again. This is why it has no light source. The middle is the same but dead and the 3rd appears before the boss does.
The nebula too is an enemy. SHown in-game at 50% opacity. I'll show that on its own later.
Animations are simulations only. All is coded including additional explosions not made by me.
Not too many colors per sprite. Each enemy has its own palette. Palettes supplied.
