this is nice. i hope i could create one as lovely as this.
I LOVE THIS STYLE <3 your sister or brother is so lucky to have this piece dedicated to them <3 I LOOOVEEE the shading oon the lizards skin and the guys expression, haha priceless : D
what dont you ideots see that its a diferent tipe of art!!!! its not the grount or sky or hills that jour soposed to look at!!! its the kid and his lizard. its eant to draw the attention of the viewer to the pay and that.... that... well what ever it is... and thats what you shuld see. not the ground!!!!
all you saj is critisism!!! i like it
! but the clkods and sand splash are good!
Yay! made the monthly top 10! Thank you everyone for rating and fav'ing my piece. :D
Whoo-hoo. I would be happy :-D. Nice happy-maker.
Although lizard could be more satisfied with his job. Maybe even crazy about jumping through that desert? ;-)
Thanks! I think I may do another painting with these two characters soon.
I will play with the landscape eventually, though. So, I thank you for the suggestions and criticism towards this piece, it'll be very helpful for when I go back and start to edit it and change things around. However, for now, this is what I have to show.
Thanks, Manupix (heh, thought I was supposed to be looking at the area where the two oranges met).
The 'area fill' on the lizard is brilliant, 'zack, which is what spoiled me, and made me hope for something on the sand (even though it certainly needs to be kept to a minimum) but if you're happy with it, I'll say 'sod the sod' and fave this puppy, because I really love it.
Keep 'em coming, pleez!
Thanks guys!
Claredeth - Thanks man. Aha, perhaps but I doubt it.
I love the whimsical nature of this piece. It's nice seeing a piece like this that shows you don't need to be serious all the time and can make a great piece of art even if it looks simpler by comparison. :)
Thanks man, means a lot. Yep, I designed the characters, and I thank you on that compliment as well. :D
Nice work man! Did you also design the characters? They are very well designed in combination with the style in my opinion!
Thank you for the edit. I'll get around to fixing it and adding another color shouldn't be too hard on the piece. :)
@ Ninja: I'm just talking about the small area where orange sand jets into the blue sky, I wasn't specific enough.
The grey AA pixels look darker than both colors (although surprisingly they're not, as can be checked by total desaturation) so they stand out a lot. Both sand and sky colors are close in value, but contrasted in hue: this requires a very precise choice of AA value (and hue preferably in the yellow-greenish, but it's not as important as value), I'm even surprised at how much very small changes went overboard one way or the other.
It seems no color available in the picture does it (didn't check thoroughly) so it's either scrap AA or have a new color.
Sorry 'zack for invading your gallery! ;)
Thank you guys.
Sharprm - Perhaps... I may edit this later on. :)
Shawn - Yea, I should've added more critics but I started to get tired with it. Like I mentioned, I may edit this piece and apply them.
Ryath - Thanks. I could make them larger if I edit it.
Dex - I love you too. :D
I love your style, an this piece is amazing too. The only thing I would say i didn't like is the clouds in the sky. I would either have you remove them or make them bigger, sine they just look a little odd to me right now.
i'd have liked to see more of the crits applied into this but i really like how it came out. im not too fond of the inner side of the shirt being so dark though.
its great. wouldn't more saturated blue and yellow be happier though?
I don't see a problem with the AA colour (sorry Manupix - if it's a technical thing I just don't get yet, please correct me).
And far from keeping attention away by making it simple, a giant field of unbroken colour draws the eye right to it. Perhaps if you darkened the corners, the lighter center would be a bull's eye that would guide the viewer to the center (sorry, I'll stop making suggestions now since I haven't tried them and don't know if they'll work - but there are a bunch of awesome area-filling ideas in the pixels that come up when you search the galleries for 'desert').
Just so that it doesn't resemble the surface of the sun!
I want to favourite this piece as soon as you do decide it's done, thanks.
Thanks everyone.
The background was suppose to be plain, I thought perhaps it would draw attention away from it. I may saturate it more, and sorry about the horrible AA color choice on the sand, I honestly didn't know what I was doing. :P
Makes me happy too.
'xcept the dark aa around orange sand.
Is there any way to add texture to the ground like you did to the lizard - the plain plain is distracting in what is otherwise my favourite piece of yours ('it's awesome, man!').
yeah! really nice! i love ur style, maybe the background could need some work, but i think u went for this plain and empty bg on purpose
So cute! *_*
