Stickman: Actually that's what I meant, too - that the arms and legs move in rhythm with each other - but I see your point of making it more natural. Thanks for the suggestion!
myrkriq: I think I was subconsciously thinking of the game Scribble from Nitrome :)
Sorry - what I meant was the arms and legs are moving on exactly the same beat. I'm not to sure how many frames you have (8?). but you could shift the arm frames.eg. start frame 8 of the arms, onto frame 1 instead. That would give the animation a little bit overlap on the walk and a more natural feel.
Hope that makes a little more sense as it's tricky to explain:)
Thanks so much everyone!
Mis-BUG: I was wondering about the jagged lines too, and where to differentiate between style and plain bad pixelling. Some areas, esp her shirt, definitely look crude so I'll try cleaning up. Do you think I should thin out the outline in general?
Chrispy/NaCl/Stickman: I've never played Yoshi's Story, but looking at the screenshots, I guess she'd be featured in that sort of game, with a nonsensical perspective :P I made her shoes so that she would be walking on a flat ground.
Stickman: She does look stiff, so I'll play with moving the head around, but I thought your arms do move in unison with your legs when you're walking?
dpixel: I agree, the palette's too jarring right now. I'll try to tone the color down (and add some shadows, lulz).
This is great, maybe just a little shine to the eyes and the lines a little less jagged would make it perfect :)
Adorable! The only critique I could give is too many fully saturated colors...only your medium blue isn't saturated 100%.
This is really cute:)
Off setting the arms by a frame or two, could make it look less that the motion is in unison with the legs. You could also separate the head and have it bob up and down by a pixel, to make the body look less rigid.
What sort of game is it that requires that angle?
Nice work:)
I like it, nice work! What kind of game though? Looks like shes walking almost towards us, halfway between that and to the right.
Animation is a good one considering that this is your first work! Perhaps you could animate the reflection on the hairs too...
The overall style is nice, but maybe you could clean the lines making them less "jagged"...
Shading on the bottom of the face looks weird. Other than that, I love this. The lines are jagged and unclean, but in a good way, if theres such a thing. If you ever finish that game, let me know, I would love to play it.
