Love this one. When looking at it I´ve got the same feeling as during playing Endless Forest. Magical. Peacuful. Wonderful.
I killed a bit of dithering on the head and shoulder and made the hooves bigger. The light change on the hindquarters were pretty gradual I thought, so I left the dithering there.
I had a reference, but I didn't quite read out the legs correctly the first time xD It should be fixed now.
Thanks so much again for your help!
See edit here (from your 1st version).
If it was my own piece, there would probably be even less dithering! Try to think of how progressive or abrupt the change in lightning would be, relatively to the shapes (esp on the head and nose).
Leg: I tried to make it according to what I think it should look like, which is not the way to go: google some horse pictures! Looks like the hoof is too small.
Aside from those, I really love the light and colors.
I see! Thanks for your resourcefulness, Manupix :D
I touched up on the head and legs. There's still a bit of roughness left, but hopefully that will just pass for hair.
You can edit until the deadline, and then again after the vote. Not during the week between.
Dithering - when necessary - must be checked at 100 or 200% after (almost) each pixel. When the transition and texture look better: keep (10%). When they don't, discard (90%). Tedious job...
What happens on the head is that contrary to your intention of a smooth transition, you actually created 2 harsh transition instead of 1, and a new flat-looking plane between them.
It usually takes a little breaking of the pattern to improve.
Thanks so much guys!
Manupix: Yikes, you're right about the leg. Where else is it weird? Is it too late to edit?
I'm also a noob at dithering; hoping to improve though :)
Very romantic palette... I even wanna touch this lovely animal.
The palette creates a lovely mood in this piece. Great job. Submitting...
Beautiful! Lovely palette.
Leaves are ok I think, but the front leg looks weird in places, esp the narrow 'ankle'.
There's just a bit too much dithering too, a matter of a few pixels too many.
Good luck!
Nice textures and palette. Gonna get a ribbon for sure (not green) :D
This one didnt won any prize??? Sorry but this piece should deserved at least 3 or 2 place...but in mine opinion this piece is extremely underappreciated...dont get your ego rise there son
