This challenge has been good lighting practice for me, so thanks :D

Darth Vader.

No reference, pure inner-dork recollection of what the helmet looked like. The palette is reminiscent in color scheme of a Darth Vader T-Shirt I had 10 years ago that got ripped to shreads from skateboarding in it too much.

Edit, fixed a perspective issue.

It's very well done.

So awesome!  I love your palette choice!  And the fact that you can see the light source in his eyeball units!

I don't even know what to say!  Other than let's boo-gee.

Got my only vote for the weekly.

Buddy90 (Level 6 Manager) @ 3/5/2010 16:33

Great way to break the "obviously split into squares" thing.

Balamoot (Level 10 Maniac) @ 3/5/2010 14:50

I hate other Darthvaders! )

Jabber (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 3/5/2010 14:37

This one's getting my vote, I think. :) The shininess looks great, and the wonky palette changes look pretty much totally natural, which is not the case for very many of the entries and honestly it surprises me that you were able to pull that off. Really nice stuff. The Vaderness helps also.

RoboBOT (Level 7 Captain) @ 3/5/2010 12:44

Much better!

Argyle (Level 6 Manager) @ 3/5/2010 10:55

Good eye!  Musta missed that after going back over it and changing how I went about the pizza shaped part of his face.  I adjusted it a bit to address the issue.

And thanks everybody for the comments!  I'm pretty happy with it.  Palettes are something I'm working on getting better control of, and this one popped much nicer than I anticipated when I first dove into it.

RoboBOT (Level 7 Captain) @ 3/5/2010 09:56

Nice! Good recollection, I'm impressed. The triangle ("mouth"?) is a bit out of perspective. The bottom edge should slant up to the left, instead of down to the left. It's a matter of a few pixels, but definitely noticeable. The color palette is awesome, and well done making it seemless. Nice piece.

 Great use of lighting.
