This is my first complete pixel piece. I'm still making the transition from traditional art to digital, but I think I'll make it in time.

Rather large piece. Only 12 colors. I made this guy up on the fly. I wanted to convey the motion of the beast as it walks.

Please comment. :D

Romson-

Yeah. So far, my designs are pretty good. As in, they look MUCH better on paper. I really need to learn how to nail anti-alias, dithering etc.

I suppose I should've put this in the WIP forums. Maybe I'll get some good tips.

Like I've said before, I have pretty good drawing skills, but turning my pictures into pixels is where I'm weakest.

rly cool design... u definitly have the skills, now u need techniques since it looks very unclean.... ur color ramps are very linear. u shouldnt make a ramp for every hue, instead try to make connections between different hues, for example, the darkest brown could easily  be replaced by the 2nd darkest green. looking at the "ring finger/claw" of its right "hand"  the transition from green to brown is almost invisible... also the two darkest tones of that pink-ish head colors could be interchanged with the lightest browns... im saying this because u said "only 12 colors"... this piece use 12 colors only  .....12 colors are already a lot for this piece,...pixel art is alot about color conservation and intelligent palettes... search pixeljoint for "8 color club" , for instance, and u'll be amazed what people can do ... i think this is the most stunning example

anyway... great beast!! keep it up!

you've got a solid start. I like the creature, but how about reading up on some tutorials such as lineart, anti-aliasing and texturing? I strongly suggest that you visit www.wayofthepixel.net and put up a thread with this creature. hopefully, someone will be kind enough and edit it for you and point out ways to improve it. good luck with it!

Can I use a part of this pallette?

Don't use staircased lines, they tend to luck yucky and jaggy.  Other than the lines and the jaggies here and there, I really like this piece, its really good for one of our early tries.  Try cleaning this up, and try to make the lines more clear.  Break in shadow near front foot seems too square.  Teeth on other side should be darkly visible.

Transparency counts as a color so this has 13.
