i didn't say it was realistic, just a bit anatomy off. The thing is, a cat can't sit like that. You should see her front legs if it is standing like that. The body shouldn't be so round, exept if it had fat on it's back :D.. Another thing, the front 'torso' should be a lil' bit to the left. Maybe this is all wrong what i said... Can you give me a reference photo (if you had one)?
Zedeem: what exactly about the cat seems off to you? I don't think I got the body exactly the way it is in the picture, but it doesn't feel so terribly off to me that it looks unrealistic to me.
Thanks guys!
I've never played a Legend Entertainment game, but now I want to.
I definitely wanted to put the cat in shadow, although It was more to set a mood rather than generalize it, although the "that could be my cat" feel is a plus as well.
Sorry for your loss dude... Good job, but you might improove the anatomy on the cat. Everything else is pretty good, i like the shadows, and the colours too.
cocoa is probably really proud of this. :P good job, and sorry for your loss.
This is an excellent render. I know this came from a previous photo, but I do like how the cat is in shadow and allows for a generalized "That could be my cat" feel to it. I like the dithering on everything. I'm new to pixel art making (I've dabbled a bit in the line art area), but have seen countless number of pixel arts being an adventure gamer of the 90s and so on. This piece reminds me a lot of the art from the Legend Entertainment era of Interactive Fiction where they had simple renders or very lightly animated renders. I can almost see a light candle-esque animation of light on the highlighted edges of the cat. Very well done.
I can definitely see what you're saying about the fron neck, I really stuggled with that part. check out the reference photo, it's posted in the description.
