What you did for the BG is fine then, since you pixelled it (looked like a CG pattern so I had to ask). Just know that PJ wants original pixel work and while using a base is ok, its always better if you make original stuff, since that's what members admire and respond to best.

I plotted out a tile of three different green pixels and then copied and pasted them as tiles. Then tried to break it up enough to try and get rid of the grid look but I will try harder next time!

The background seems like a pattern or texture or spary paint, these things are not considered pixelart.
