Style was very experimental and these are my first works with large black shadows (like most of my gallery here ). I was coming directly from drawing sprite on the Amiga in 32-color mode, so I used short color ramps only. For Slither I remember being inspired by the Batman animated series, and I tried to play with the perspective since these lizardfolk assassins are three-meter-high.
Schhhh...don't say HD collapse; it might hear you! ;) I have an artist friend who lost most of his lifetime digital works in a crash...he doesn't do gfx anymore. So, good thinking I guess. :D Those gfx has a very distinct PC-ish feel to them (as opposed to Amiga-ish) ;) ... I like the pose of Slither though.
Definitely something that came out of a 90's game. They do have a certain charm about them..
Ordinary at first glance, but those texturing techniques and the detailing really makes this piece exceptional!
In the "submit pixel art" page, you upload the big image as the 'detail file'. This site requires you to privide a smaller image (100x100 max, <10Kb if possible) that will be shown in all pages that display lists of images : front page, search, etc. Don't make it an auto-resized version of the bigger image! At the minimum, crop a part of your big image, and if it's not clear enough that it's a preview (and people may not click to see detail), put the word "preview", or a "[+]", or draw a magnifying glass...
