This is a few years old but good job on the trees, grass transitions and autumn color set...and just everything else also!
You're right about Link to the Past and this is great work. I need to take the time and appreciate the detail of your work here at length.
And you know, what's really amazing is that all of this could be made into an actual functional LoZ remake, as long as you stick to the 256x224 resolution. Ever heard of Zelda Classic? :D
I could actually have this game up and running in a couple weeks.
Many thanks to everyone who rated this and helped rank this No. 8 Top Pixel Art - October 2010.
Freaking amazing. I now want to play this on my SNES. D:
what im not loving that much is the soldier design, but hell, its just a taste thing :)
man! this looks awesome.
it somehow reminds me of the minish cap, in that that is like an update to ALTTP, in the graphics.
I like it! :D
Thanks. Good to hear some honest feedback.
For the perspective issue, I do agree it shouldn't show the back off the cliff. However this is a Zelda game and what I quickly learned while doing this piece that Zelda perspective isn't that logical. This kind of show-all-cliff-faces is very typical, especially in A Link to the Past.
Now that I look at it the holes in the ground could use some refining.
As for the first dungeon screen, I think I strayed a bit too much toward non-saturated gloomier look than the rest of the candy colored screens so that's why it sticks out so much.
very nice look, I'd love to see this game in action!
lol i bought zelda "spirit tracks" some days ago and shortly after that i realized that the old zelda games were better.....and your remake of the good old style is perfect!
Lovely environments. I really like the second to last pic.
That's typical Zelda perspective, being able to see the back of the cliffs.
That would be an Armos, though I've got to say that's probably the only thing in this piece I don't think looks right.
far more appealing to me than any of the later Zelda stuff (like Minish Cap's awful style). Nice work
I-i-is that a DARKNUT?!
Besides finding it odd that Link's wielding a shield when it's not in any of the action slots and the fact that the darknut looks like a futuristic warrior from outer space, this piece, good sir, is awesome.
there is a few perpective problems i felt. so i'll give some feedback. however you should know overall i liked this peice. a good attempt at a zelda peice.
third screen from the bottom if you look at the bottom of the peice then you'll notic its suppose to be a cliff. yet you shouldn't see any rocks...if you were on the other end of the cliff you would. but as your showing it i think it should simply be the edge of the cliff and thats it not the rocks as well...
there are a few kinds of rocks, ther eis one inpaticualr i think you've tried to make it look like a hole in the ground or something. it think that needs a bit of work, because while its obvious to what it is, it just looks flat and well sticks out like a sore thumb.
the only other issue i had was with the inbuilding screen (third from top). while games like zelda kept a similoar look at feel. i felt annoyed and confused when looking at it. basically putting it plain and simple i felt like the characters didn't fit in all to nicely with the level.
Wow. Thanks to everyone for the compliments.
@iLKke and Delicious Thank you very much. Coming from you guys, that's like a hundred compliments. It's been quite a while since my previous post(not counting my hasty werewolf avatar update) and I have learned loads of stuff since so I'd have been worried if there hadn't been any improvement. Hmmm, maybe I should post stuff more often.
You seem deticated, you should really check this site out; www.zeldaclassic.com/index.php
Wow! Great syle- faithful to the original but looks really fresh!
I agree with iLKke, it's a very noticable improvement from your last few pieces!
Your progress is quite visible compared to earlier pieces. Well done.
this is amazing! Well done, beautiful colors, so funny to look at and it's so joyful! I love this!
fabulous, congratulations
