I remember watching this thread on pixelation; this really needs some love. Brilliant work.
It looks too much of a copy-paste. Meaby flip some of those trees and leaves to make it look more natural?
Very Nice. I love Maurice Sendak, and I love this. And BTW for a tiling background that's not supposed to be the focus anyway, I think the saturation, and contrast are perfect.
Thanks for the c & c, guys!
I don't think the game was ever released. Somewhere along the way I lost touch with the progress. But I've never heard or seen anything about it since.
I agree with the contrast and saturation issues, and I'll probably revisit that as I notice on one of my monitors it is a lot more bleak and muddled than the other. As for the tiling line, I definitely noticed how prevalent it was and even considered mentioning it in my description. I decided to leave it as it was, because if I were to go back and fix that up I would probably end up fixing a lot more issues than just that. That was something I wasn't prepared to do, however.
The thread where you were posting these backgrounds was literally the first one I saw when I came to pixelation. I had until that point spent most of my time in communities where the average skill level was relatively low (me especially included), and that thread totally blew me away and was a big source of inspiration. This brings back really good memories! Did the game ever end up happening?
It's nice but it's so low saturated that I can't look at it for long without my eyes going a bit weird. Also I think a contrast increase could benefit the back trees and further back too as it all looks really flat there where it should have the most depth of all.
Very nice as always, Dop. I like your less-is-more approach to pixelling. I think it works well because you're such a natural with palettes.
Only downside is that the tiling line is very obvious on the trees and rocks in particular.
Looks great, although I can see the line where you tiled it. (You can tell because the tuft of leaves near the crotch are cut off on the left side, and if you follow down the rocks have a similar problem.)
Nice job, but I dont know why it makes mine eyes burn.
I really like the image! It so cool.
However, I think you should increase the contrast!
Oh woaw, great depth and detail, what became of the game? If it all matched this par it'd be pretty noteworthy!
I remember reading the Pixelation thread way back :)
Pixelling is fantastic as usual, though I still think you didn't push saturation enough ;P
This is really nice! I love those leaves, the forest is awesome! I don't know about the grass. But damn man... 5/5
This is beautiful! I love The vegetation on the log.
