@Buddy90: I'm aware of that, but due to the nature of how Nethack works, I chose to use only the tile ramps because using sprites would cause a lot of flicker and slow down in a game like this. If this were an actual game, sprites would be used for special effects such as using wands.
@Sippy_Cup: Not really a palette, per se, because all of the colors come from the NES palette. I figure it would be easy enough to see what the colors were.
actually, you have 8 ramps, with 4 colors each. 4 ramps for sprites, and 4 ramps for backgrounds. The only thing is that all the sprite ramps have to share one color, and all the background ramps have to share one color. So, you could do alot more than shown here.
It does look good though, like one of the early NES games. Kinda like Hydlide.
love it, the walls and main character seem very zelda-esk to me.
would love to see your pallette you talk about.
I guess I'm just too used to the ascii.. but who knows, maybe some day I'll switch to a graphical interface and a screen like this wouldn't look bad at all. I hope something like this would get finished sooner or later!
Gosh, this looks really cool.
You should totally do more.
reminds me on legend of zelda....good work
and now i need to search my old gameboy xD
