This is pretty old work, note that it was uploaded here well before the release of Terraria. I'd also assert that it looks more like minecraft than terraria due to the lack of garish black outlines and only the surface information being visible, and looks more like separate work than either of them. I should really go back and recode this game at some point, it had a lot of potential.
It doesn't looks like Mincraft so much as Terraria but I like it either way.
I might try that later on, though the grass is going to be a complicated game object. later on. We'll see, glad you like it though.
What happens if you put grass tiles on top of tree tiles? I usually improvise like that to 'soften up' hard edges and slopes :)
Anyways, I'm ranting- I like this piece, and it also reminds me of Minecraft, and you can totally go make some skins for Minecraft :) And yes, that is a compliment of sorts :D
Nice! Really like the guy over the tree... Agree with the "tiny stuff" guy (Eldboll)
is this like 2d minecraft? :D
Lol, kidding. Seriously its great.
<_< Oh so many comparisons between this and minecraft.. I suppose I should take it as some form of compliment though.
It certainly was when in-game. I've toned it down to 2 colour rockiness there. I'll post a new mockup using the new assets when I get past the huge coding workload <_<
It looks really nice, though I'm thinking the inside of the cave might be a little bit too noisy.
When I said rework, I meant the assets. There's no sense repeating the same mockup over and over and refining it, that way you don't make the assets as versatile as is needed.
Looking at your stuff here and elsewhere, I must say I'm impressed by how much detail per pixel you convey.
Keep on doing stuff!
There are parallax layers in-game but I thought it would be more appropriate for the sake of the mockup to focus on the tiles and superficial detail ;)
I don't know why, but I love this. I think it's because it's so tiny. I love tiny stuff.
Sure did. Hope you do more with it.
