Alright, right off the bat I want to make it clear that the lines on this are essentially a trace. I found this picture:

in an artbook I bought, OtherWorlds by Tom Kidd, and as I looked at the inked picture, my mind flashed with a couple of Fool's images. One of my favorite things in his pieces are the rocks, and I thought that these rocks would provide an excellent picture for me to study rocky texture with. I photographed the piece, shrunk it down, and started working in a layer over it. Here it is with the shrunk down piece under it:

This is being done for academic purposes only, not to try to steal Mr. Kidd's fine drawing. Please alert me if this is against a rule that I missed.
On to the piece itself. The bottom edges look unfinished because I do intend to expand the piece to some of the other rock sections, but I'd like any comments before I get to there so I have less to fix later. Done in, say 5 hours while listening to the OCRemix project Summoning of Spirits. 6+trans colors. I can make a WIP anim if anyone would like. I also highly recommend the book I got the piece from, OtherWorlds, it's a great book, very helpful, even though it's aimed at traditional painters.
EDIT: Okay, it's been a while, I got a bit of help on the forums, but it's been a while and I've received no more feedback and I'm bored with the piece. I'm not completing past this, but I think I learned a good bit about doing rocks. |
...The WIP forum didn't even cross my mind. That would have been a much better idea ^_^'
But thank you, I definitely see what you're saying. I'll get right on fixing that, thank you :). And then I think I'll make a thread in the WIP forums...
