Hello, I really love this animation, and I would love to make a game with it in flash.
My idea is that the blood and the gibs of the enemies keep still on the ground wich scrolls with it, I know how to do this.
This is a game I made: http://fav.me/d3bbjc7
If you wan't to collaborate to make game, please :)
yep. Thats what I thought (and usually do myself. Plus the fun of being able to 'play' you graphics :)
You donkey. :) You coulda' made that in Game Maker in no time!
Haha, unbelievably no! This was supposed to be a simple thing to test out GameMaker and see what I could do with it! I ended up just focusing on the mockup instead!
Lovely stuff, Robbo! Is this another part of the magnum opus you wanna' make?
I love the animation! The flying has a natural "pull" to it. It feels very arcade-like and fun! The cycles themselves are loose and fluid. I especially enjoy the devil's destruction animation.
The sprites read well against the background, so the colors are practical, but I think the palette could be a little more cohesive. The magenta, dark blue, turquoise green, and yellow feel a bit too electric to work together. Maybe it's intentional, but it makes the nature in the scene look slightly unnatural.
Great work! I second your frustration with ProMotion. It's useful, but so counter-intuitive and glitchy.
I am indeed a welshy mate! The mockup is all hand assembly. I tend to animate my character loops, get over-excited and then formulate some rudimentary backdrops and other details and put it all together.
Pretty good. I love all the little animated details (the red guy starting to bite when he gets close to the hero ! ... )
How did you put it together to resemble a game ? all positioned by hand, or some 'engine' to simulate a game ?
And I guess you're Welsh ? ;)
Very cool. Nice colors. Nice animations. Though I find your pixelling style a bit gritty, it still has a nice pixelly aesthetic to it.
I think you could add another layer or two of clouds. I think that way fat moving foreground clouds won't stick out as much.
at about 2:10 to see what I mean )
The clouds are a fair bit faster than the other layers. This was mainly because I had a lot of force in the animation hitting the characters hair and shroud like there was a lot of wind or he was travelling at speed.
I wanted something in the environment to reflect this but do accept it may jar with the other layers of parallax (I should have just had the environment travelling quickly as if at speed but don't think this will be true to how it would be in-game!). Thanks for the comments! :)
Amazing i think the clouds go a bit fast thought. otherwise its EPIC :P
This is fantastic. Really nice looking sprites and great animation.
Damn.. That's it; I'm inspired to make a mock up. I love the style
Ah man this is awesome looking! Looks like everything is going a tad bit too slow compared to the clouds on top but still pretty damn awesome.
Hehe, I rarely use anything else for animating pixels but my default state is to abuse the software I love the most sorry!
Great piece though boo to the Pro Motion dissing. It's the best damn pixelling program around.
Brilliant - I love the particle effects in the explosions.
would love to play that, btw...
Brilliantly done!
