This is actually a pixel that I did for my wife. I kind of get the feeling the style won't be widely accepted here, however I felt that this was important enough to me to go ahead and post.

Basically I tried to get it to look as much like a drawing as possible (including making the text look like handwriting, which was really hard). The Tree represents the fact that I always draw trees for some reason and there is a silly little puzzle in the text to symbolize me and my wife writing notes to each other way back when.

yeah I was worried about that, but I was afraid having it too dark might make it look less like a drawing.

As for the writing, yeah I know it needs AA but I was kind of rushing at the end. I may go back and fix sometime

I don't think the style is an issue, but it's so light I can barely see it. The luminance on the tree itself ranges from 87-95%, which is extremely light. If the darker outlines could be more like 50% (around 120 grey in rgb) or even darker then it could be seen more easily.

For the text, it could really use some anti-aliasing on it. It does look like handwritting, but if you only use one color for it then at that size it'll be chunky and difficult to read. It could also use darkening too.
