And finally, as the shadows grew longer, Fir-Anu raised his staff to the dim stars to bless the departing of the Ancestor Vessels. The sunset marked the end of another Age.

-This is, of course, influenced by some of the great pixelartists we have here, but I think what had actually inspired me to make it was this piece

You can see the WIP animation here (it lacks a few steps, as I forget to save often, of course).

*I would also LOVE to do some hue-shifting on this piece- I wonder if it's ok to submit the hue-shifted edit as a new one, or re-submit this one after the challenge ends?

Friend (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 8/16/2011 20:57

masterpiece right here.  Are you ever going to add color to this?

EdJr (Level 9 Nidan) @ 4/25/2011 19:38

Deserved first.

piotr.ek (Level 1 Private) @ 4/25/2011 03:33

Masterpiece. Should have won imo :)

 I like it

Beautifully done, such a difficult angle to work with.

Mrmo Tarius (Level 10 Master Sniper) @ 4/16/2011 05:14

@everyone thanks for the feedback! This is my 50th piece here, so I thought I needed to make something special :D

Working in grayscale is something I will definitely explore again- without color, I can improvise and work on the details and shading without much worries.

I understand it may seem a bit noisy and busy- I was, actually, trying to see how much detail I can add to it, and I was always looking at it @2x or more zoom while drawing, so I guess it looks better when zoomed in a bit :)

To make it, I used Grafx2, a downright amazing pixelart-oriented editor.

I'll get to linking a hue-shifted version, as soon as I decide which one to use :)

MyO (Level 1 Rookie) @ 4/16/2011 00:12

Which editor did you use for this one?

iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 4/16/2011 00:11

Excellent work, I'm flattered to have inspired it :) Now I have to FAV it!

Also, lovely take on the theme. I'm curious to see the hue-shifted version. Skamocore is probably right, since the challenge is explicitely grayscale perhaps it makes the most sense to just link to the other version from the description.

Delicious (Level 9 Boss) @ 4/15/2011 22:59

Looks like we got a winner! ;)

epoxy (Level 1 Rookie) @ 4/15/2011 22:39

Wow... amazing work! I almost wish it were huge (like mural-sized), since the composition is so grand. I'll imagine that it is.

r1k (Level 1 Rookie) @ 4/15/2011 19:23

the pixel technique is certaintly great.  But I feel like all the extra detail you added in at the end is actually detracting from the overall image; it seems too busy now.  Great interpretation of the theme.

bobowitzbob (Level 4 Team Leader) @ 4/15/2011 15:22

Nice! I saw this on the forum thread.

Kich (Level 4 Rubbish) @ 4/15/2011 15:22

Great piece.

imbrainy (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 4/15/2011 02:09

Wow, I love it! It's amazing what you can do with just grayscale, eh? :D

Mrmo Tarius (Level 10 Master Sniper) @ 4/15/2011 01:49

 Well, yes :) I suppose I could.

skamocore (Level 11 Dolphin) @ 4/15/2011 01:47

You could just link to the other version in the description?
