I wish you'd pushed the contrast more by lowering the shadows' values. As it stands, this DOES look like a sunny day, but a really humid one.
I like the originality and concept of your city, voted.
Thanks for all the feedback everybody, I'm going to try and change the overly saturated sky and fix up the pallette. I guess what I was aiming for is what you'd see on a very clear day, just a lot of clear bright colors with strong shadows, I gotta work more on that.
Nice take, I like the industrial buildings. There could be more of them, integrating into the cliffs.
Agree with most previous comments.
The palette needs some refining: there are almost separate ramps with very little hue shifting, mostly the sky, the zeppelins, some earth tones. It's also lacking in dark tones and contrast (although it could also be deliberately low contrast, but then there is too much random contrast with some colors).
And the sky dithering is really lousy
Good angle and all, i was wondering when someone would do something different from a facial shot of a city.
Have to agree with some previous posters, though, i don't like the sky at all.
Overall, it's great.
The dithering on the blue sky looks too much like its in chunks thanks to a marquee tool and a nudge every so often, having them straight all the way or making the angle they're at more subtle with AA or blending the dithering better would do wonders for that. Aside that minor point it's a gorgeous piece and I really like the wood and rock texturing you've done. Im with gecimen on emphasising the depth too actually, but I'd darken the farthest away things rather than lighten the close ones as the piece is pretty light already. You could just darken the darkest grey and brown tones a little to do this rather than add/remove colors. Zepplin and buildings done lovely too
If the front part of the city was lighter and more saturated than the back part it would give the spatial feeling better. right now it's a bit like they are at the same distance.
No-o-o, saturated sky and white zeppelin against it are the things that grabbed my attention instantly. And it's true to life - the other day I seen the same combination of colors in the evening when white building was against clear blue sky. But shadows on the building were shades of blue too, not grey.
Looks good, but I don't think the high saturation of the sky works with the rest of the image.
Colours on the guys pants might work better.
Wish the kid's clothes were more exciting than double dream feet shirt and jeans. Nice work on the perspective and stuff.
man you are soo good
