the preview doesn't do it justice. Awesome piece. Frame is nice, if a little flat at the ends. The lightbulb plants are also cool, and the pixelwork on the tree is ace.
I don't even know what's going on in this picture but it's really good.
I like the light bulbs. The outside of the face could do with a little softening(using a lighter line colour) as the character looks rather delicate. Is the blood because of thorns?
there we go :) resaved as a png and fixed the 3 spots with extra colours not in my palette that my psd version had. No idea where so many extra colours came from with the gif x_o. That palette tool now says 19 colours though haha
@yrizoud and Manupix : The head being oversized was indeed intentional, it's just part of my style I guess. As for the face being androgynous, I'm not sure I see an issue with that as it was also intentional as well. Besides, hyst because most of my gallery is 'cutesy' stuff, doesn't mean I'm not capable of something a bit creepier :)
aaand for some reason i cant unbold any of that :/ lol!
@ Mathias : ews what the heck? Not sure how it went from 18 to 28 :/ I'll have to check that out
Woah! plain amazing!
Some nitpicks: maybe what is a bit uncanny (for me too, but not all that much) is that the face appears androgynous as well as oversized.
The outlines are too prominent, in some parts of the body, and mostly in the overhanging vines which create a noisy distraction.
I didn't see the light bulbs at once, they might give off light haloes.
This is nice. I only wish there was a bit more contrast to the colors, though, because at a first glance, it's hard to read what's going on. The border looks like it was mind-numbing work. Good job.
The only defect I can detect is that the creature brings me straight to uncanny valley (closes misses "cute" and gets to "creepy" instead), probably due to the head being oversized compared to the rest of the body. If this was intended, no problem.
Words cannot describe how amazing this work is. A job well done, to say the very least. 6/6.
Shockingly good :O
And a year of work O.o, talk about dedication :P (i know it isn't fulltime, but still).
I did see some very small mistakes (black bar under left arm, weird bumb on second from right lightbulb), however, what |||| already said, these are overshadowed by the total awesomeness.
There's so much good to this. I love the tree trunk and the frame, great shape and detail; looks like a lot of hard work. Any technical, or rather, minor technical issues is far outweighed by the greatness overall.
It looks fantastic!
