Aimed for a sort of dense, foggy dusty postapocalyptic feel, which worked well enough on most tiles, but the dithered water and the liney fog were bad ideas. I do like the fade effect from water to soil. The gasmask on the shelter doors was a reference to Souly/Punky/Bones.
Also tried a new approach to tiling. Rather than use a traditional circle of transition tiles like www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/tileset_grass_2.3.2.png I opted to make a whole lot of intermediate tiles, which would sort of act like a gradient. This method should work nicely with a random map generator based on perlin noise. |
Nice tiles, the colours seem to be a bit low contrast - even though you're going for a post-apocalyptic feel everything is fairly saturated.
