I guess I need to get something straight here. The basis for this piece was not Michaels apple tree. Yes, it inspired me, but the piece started out as an assignment to do illustration for an article and at the time I started doing the tree I wasn't really thinking about Michaels piece.
As I stated before a lot of artists use curled up tree trunks, so do I, it looks cool. So inspiration for that has become before making this, and from many places, not just Michael. I guess people just tend to pick up ideas along the way and use those ideas in their own work, and I don't see much wrong with that.
I guess the thing that bothers most of you is the leaf part (?). At first I wasn't even going to bother making leaves and the tree looked like this. But I had to ditch that version because the article is about "autumny" food - so the tree would need apples and I couldn't figure out a stylish way to place the apples into that bundle of green. So I went on and made leaves and it all looks much nicer.
So I guess my point is that it wasn't my intention to copy or steal from anyone, and I senserely hope no one thinks I did. Inspiration doesn't come from one place, and look into fantasy illustration, the artists works have similarities, but each one does things in their own style.
Aand I guess I should shut up about now.. :) oh yeah and fix that blinking thing..
Yea, aside from the instant Final Redemption I also noticed, I do like the base of the trunk. But you must fix that one annoying frame. And give more body to the leaves. Also it is standard to in some art practices to atleast mention the artist of whose art your piece was directly inspired but oh well atleast you didn't just edit his picture.
