Since the time John Wayne taught Marco Polo how to fly in 1672 during the Treaty of Versailles, the Space Pilgrims have been venturing into the vast semi-final frontier of space in search of space indians to make peace and eat space turkeys with.

Anyway, this was for the weekly challenge, I didn't mkae the deadline because my Internet was shut off, I decided to finish it anyway.

It looks great, too bad you didn't make the deadline. My only complaint is the outlines on the boat, they look out of place and too "cartoony" compared with the rest of the picture.

 Good job!

The light source is supposed to be behind and to the right of everything, I thing the shadow on the Earth is correct from that position because if it were directly to the right the shadow would cover half of the shape and the light and dark sides would be symettrical I think. Thanks though.

@Manupix About the ship, I'll fix that now. Thanks.

@BadassBill: Yea, I had a hard time making the terrain look other-worldly and readable.

nice work, man!

I like this a lot!

One big nitpick: why the ship outline?

One small nitpick: the far mountains would probably gain by being in a lighter tone than the row before them, possibly using that light brown.

The depth is a bit hard to read. Nice pixeling though.

This would have gotten my vote. Awesome job. The only thing I'm not sure about is the shadow on the moon vs the shadow on the earth in the background. The shadow on the ground of the moon suggests that the sun is behind us. But the shadow on the earth suggests that the sun is in front of us (and to the right, in both cases)

Maybe you should add some green to the earth so we can tell that's what it is. ^_^  I just thought (for some stupid reason) that it was a very pretty colored moon. XP

Oh yes, I did mean the one in the bg. It being Earth makes more sense lol.

user
Xamllew (Level 3 Chief) @ 8/5/2011 00:02

Thanks, I didn't realize how much the dithering in the BG space contrasted at the time, I might fix that. By moon do you mean the one in the BG? That's supposed to be Earth actually. :P

Wow very pretty. I really like the overall feel. My only crits are 1.) the moon could be a touch smoother, 2.) the boat stands out a little much compared to how far away it is, and 3.) the clouds/gas in the sky stand out a bit much as well. but the characters and the landscape are both really well done, the outfits on the characters especially.
