12 colors is probably the best one here. As far as removing colors goes though, I noticed on the 7 color one you use 2 very close colors for the toe nails. You could remove one and add another orange to AA the inside of the outline. You could use the face color to AA the outside of the outline and the shadow. You can also use the shadow color as the AA around the eyes. Remember that each color doesnt need its own unique AA color. Usually you can pull colors from elsewhere in the palette to function as AA and that will keep your colors down and the image unified.
Also on the ones with more colors, the AA is become more like banding. You can read about banding here:
I'd stick with the one with 12 colors and adjust the palette a bit for some contrast
Why is everyone saying the 12 colours one is good?
I hate it, the 19 is much better.
