Good points. I did not catch those mistakes. I made some quick changes (atmospheric fading + some quick simulated reflections), though they're not really all that refined. Unfortunately, I can't really invest more time on this piece, but at least the background stopped bugging me now.
Thank you for the criticism. This is the type of comment I was hoping to get here.
Nice art. Reminds me of Mirres mermaid.
The clouds are really fantastic. What I do not like that much is the soft rock texture. Why not give it a nice volume with shadows and not just darkening it as we get lower.
The other thing is the water. The highlights in the far are giving it a texture that looks like concrete instead of water. I would try to soften it. So much contrast in the background is not really natural.
The only thing that remains from the original line art is the tail. Everything else was me. I don't think it's that far-fetched that meat would rot, but the eye patch would remain. Either way, it's not meant to accurately represent decomposition. ;)
As for the rock, I've tried several styles, but that uniformly rough/eroded look is the one that I managed to do properly. It's also present in a few of the several reference pictures I looked, so I guess it's accurate enough.
funny thing the meat should rot off and the eye patch stays on (maybe that was already part of the line art you mentioned, don't know). nice colors. maybe the texture/structures on the rock and in the bg are a little to uniform/tiny.
Curti bastante, as nuvens e a pedra ficaram otimas, a sereia nem se fala, só achei o efeito na água um pouco estranho.
{Br Ficou um otimo trabalho, a sua textura é impressionante.
The interface between the water and the rock needs work. I'll probably give it another shot this afternoon.
Nice stuff! I really like the texture of the mermaid. The clouds look like a storm is coming, is there a reason why? Should she not have taken the skull out of the water? ;)
very good.
the wather is so good but i dont like the rock. the transition with the wather
dude!!! This style is an amazing mix of cartoony and complex. It's so beautifully unique! Every single aspect of the piece, the skin, the water, the rock, the fin, the skull, the sky, has incredible depth of color, while still looking quirky and vibrant. And those clouds are the best pixel clouds I have ever seen by far.
I like this a lot!
The first thing I noticed was the eye-patch (and I dig it).
One-Eyed Willie kepts his eye patch after decomp :)
