Yeah, well, as stated below, I guess I made wrong choices because of the palette...
I wish I would fix most of the points you stated, but I'd rather start working on something else; I usually spend too much time trying to refine my works, and it was made specifically for this challenge anyway...
But I'll keep your advices in mind for next time, especially when dealing with metal textures.
Thanks alot for your helpful comments ! :)
I'm totally aware of that, sadly... Guess I made wrong choices, but I didn't know how to deal with that palette. It just looked wrong... oh well.
thank you, thank you for not being another steve jobs late reminder.
Did anyone mention dithering? XD
Just forget it for now, it makes the robot noisy and unreadable compared to the bg.
Also shiny stuff like metal should not be dithered, since sharp highlights and speculars are what say shine to our eyes.
On the contrary, some AA would help the robot.
A composition point: the bg towers tend to follow the robot's head, not the best move.
Should look great if you can fix these points!
If the palette was better, the dithering would've been acceptable. Sadly, it isn't, and it ruins the whole piece.
I feel like the dithering might be... too heavy? It gives Canti a texture he shouldn't have. Use dithering, but combine it with smooth shading to keep the texture you want. (I'm not very experienced at all in pixel art, just my two cents) I love the silhouetted background though!
nicly done, i know what you mean ^^ i only ever used to make under 64x64 but one u get over that you start understanding pixel art more.and can make some really cool looking stuff
Man! I do not care about the technique of execution! Because FLСL - it's cool!
