This purpose of this piece was to celebrate a personal accomplishment- Memorizing every song from the progressive metal band "Tool" on drumset, down to the most minute nuance.  More importantly, it is in tribute to my creative hero, drummer Danny Carey

It took me about 3 years to memorize every song, since the drummer's style is so polymetric.  The unicursal hexagram in the center is significant.  You can read about it here: http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Danny_Carey.html

Every corner of the piece represents one of Tool's 4 album covers: Undertow, Ænima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days

thanks :)  I think I have edited this thing like 80 times.  I really wanted to do the band justice.  I hope I have

thanks!!! the song is "Vicarious"  it is an ok song as far as Tool songs go in my opinion.  The song "Right in Two" from the same album is 10 times better!  Alex Gray's art is mindblowing

Really appreciate the comment, maybe you'll get more into their stuff as well!

Hey man I love "Vicariously" and Alex's Gray's art...defnitively see the depth in what Tool does, even though I havent actually gotten into their stuff...for some bizarre reason :p grats !

perhaps this is better.  Can't find the jaggy though.

Really appreciate all of the feedback

could make it a bit easier to read 'TOOL' (brighter, might even push it further by working a little black behind it as you have on the interior of the circles). I spot a jaggy on the bottom right of the circle's edge. on the corners- top right could 'connect' a bit more, interrelate a little. right now they look like random squiggles in a black field rather than patterns that flow together, like the album cover. lower right could probably be made a little more 3d and curve in on itself like the ref. you might even rotate it so that it fits better in that corner (so that the tendrils are reaching toward the center of the image and you don't have as much blank space). the purplish color used with the red in the topleft/lowerright isn't necessarily helpful imo.

you say not bad, but is there anything else besides the AA (which I corrected) that could be improved on?

user
Friend (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 11/3/2011 20:45

as it was meant to be, but thanks :/

Good, but not a lot of consrast between the colors :\

It was meant to be AA at first, but then just kind of turned it into a design thing.  Your edit really helps immensely.  Thanks

not bad, the aa on the lines isn't very logical though, and is probably doing more harm than good right now. here's an edit of the left side.
