Personally I'm not a big fan of dither, but in this case the Pokemon Platinum sprite had used dither, and so had the Pokemon Fire Red sprite (Heart Gold was not available when I made this) so I added dither to follow the style. You'll notice dither is used very minimally in those sprites too.
Looks great - and well, better than the original. Very lively!
I noticed you used dithering only in two places, was that necessary ? (this is a question just because I'm curious, not a criticism)
While it looks like feathers, I find a bit strange that you only have those near the belly...
really nice,
i like that clean style with outline - good pose, colors, aa
btw. i never played pokemons and don't know what is behind - but this desig looks really cute
Yes, it was supposed to cycle. It seems like imageshack was stripping the animation, so I quickly googled for another free host and this one seems to work.
@Cure:
Thanks for sorting out displaying the image for me. I was very much trying to copy the FR/LG pose as I really liked his pose in that game, but thought the D/P/Pt one sucked. The HG/SS pose is a lot better, though I think it looks a bit like he's surprised after being hit in the chest with a rock or something.
yes it's quite possible I screwed that up. Pretty sure that was the image that the url formerly in the description led to, maybe I copied the wrong information.
: D
Oh, great sprite by the way. Pose is too identical to the fr/lg sprite for my tastes, but it's surely a better version of that sprite. You've got a stray grey pixel between some feathers, btw.
Awesome! Very clean, I definitely prefer the wings to Nintendo's wings.
very nice looking, almost a little cleaner than nintendos (though he looks a tad bit fatter)
Thanks! Looks good Faceless.
Cure: Was it suppose to be an animated cycle of the various pidgeots? Because for me the image is static in the description.
Yes. You can link to the original sprites in the description, but we prefer that the piece itself (including the preview) features only work made by you, the artist. You could even add the actual images to the image description, and keep it all on the same page.
edit: fixed the description for you. just copy/paste the actual image (rather than url). assume that's what you wanted.
I'm going to have to confess to being a bit naive in terms of administration here. Am I required to remove the comparison to have this accepted? I don't mind linking to the gif if I have to, but I'd prefer the direct comparison to be there.
Very good! Also, I hate to say it, but it's best to remove any work even if it's in the preview that doesn't fully belong to you, regardless of you explaining it in the description.
Oh right; I noticed it only on the platinum version, and wondered why you kept it, but as you said it's on another sprite and minimally used...
I thought it was strange, it turns out that you're a perfectionist.
